ABSTRACT
The main aim of this paper is a description of an Expert System Shell IVEXPERT and its application to problems of hoisting systems. IVEXPERT was designed especially for technical applications like this, but it can be used more generally. Mainly in problems which can be transformed to tasks of the diagnostic type and where it is necessary to put together not only knowledge, information and experience but mathematical, better said, computer models and programmes as well.
