ABSTRACT

Restorative dental materials based on composite resins have often been used in operative dentistry, prosthodontics, pediatric and endodontic fields of dentistry. These materials have changed the clinical practice of dentists because the new technology of metal-free, polymeric materials and bonding agents, which allow preserving intact/sound tooth structures tooth, bonding to mineralized dental tissues and offering an esthetic treatment modality to the patient.

In this chapter, we describe how OCT has been exploited to evaluate restorative materials followed by a research data on OCT in such materials and conclude with some considerations.
