ABSTRACT

It is a generally accepted belief and understanding that the whole world is moving toward a more advanced, developed, and civilized society. Human beings are evolving and so are their habits, behavior, thinking, attitude, and emotions. People are advancing toward a better, convenient, comfortable, modern, technological, and easy life. It is also called hi-tech life, as technology has made life very smooth. Communication, financial transactions, conveyance, construction, even presentation of imagination has reached new heights with the help of technology. Every day, some new inventions are being made which are said to help mankind. Resources which were luxuries a few decades ago have become necessities, without which life seems to be impossible. Human beings live in a world which was created by nature. The basic resources which have made life possible on this planet Earth were made available by nature. The mere survival and existence of human beings depend entirely on the environment which is a “natural self-sustaining system” and includes the soil, water, air, sunlight, plants and animals (other than human beings), weather, temperature, moisture, and so forth. The food that we eat grows on the soil or land and it requires sunlight, water, air, and a few members of the animal family for its nurturing. Human beings are probably the only creatures, which ignored the rest of the other elements of the “natural self-sustaining system” and built an “artificial easy system”

for their own advancement, convenience, and comfort. Unfortunately, the “artificial easy system” cannot sustain unless it ensures the balance of the “natural self-sustaining system,” so that the latter can function properly. In fact, “artificial easy system” has started affecting the human life adversely destroying habitats, disturbing the weather cycle, causing global warming, leading to various diseases, and taking human lives. However, initially, for a few decades it was not given any cognizance and other less relevant factors were considered to be responsible for the undesirable impacts. Fortunately, this has been recognized, acknowledged, and given priority very recently. Moreover, since the “artificial easy system” is very lucrative, in the majority of the cases, it has become very difficult for humans to retract back to the age-old practices which ensure the balance of the “natural self-sustaining system.” Moreover, this “artificial easy system” has damaged the balance of the “natural self-sustaining system” so badly that unless a major thrust is given for awareness and sensitization to change the belief systems, attitude, behaviors, and practices, it is going to be a very difficult task to save the Earth and thus human beings.
