ABSTRACT
Aortopulmonary window (AP window) was described by Elliotson in 1830. Gross, while operating for a presumed patent ductus arteriosus, encountered an AP window and successfully ligated it in 1948. Cooley and associates reported division of an AP window using cardiopulmonary bypass in 1957. Johansson and coworkers, in 1978, first described anterior incision into the AP window itself for exposure.
