ABSTRACT

A new type of fiber was embedded in the vault and spandrel in the Bai Jia-Liang tunnel under Puning airport. Fiber strain tester and vibration tester were used to monitor the deformation and vibration of the supporting structure when the aircraft was empty or loaded. The results showed that: the main deformation of the tunnel was located at the transverse gallery, and the response of the vault was greater than that of the spandrel in the left tunnel. The larger initial deformation of the left tunnel indicated the pouring of the concrete was not substantial. The vault of the supporting structure in the left tunnel has the highest vibration velocity, and the second is the spandrel of the left tunnel, followed by the spandrel of the right tunnel, and the vault of the right tunnel has the smallest vibration velocity. The vibration velocity caused by aircraft landing and passing vehicles was at the same order of magnitude, indicating that the aircraft load has very little influence on the lower tunnel.
