ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the role that programming could have in the medical professional’s career and the role it has in Medical Physics and healthcare as a whole. The returns from learning some programming skills are great for the medical physicist or other healthcare professional. Wielding even elementary programming skills will equip an individual with a valuable tool that can help them make a positive impact for patients, staff, the public and their business. The impact that automation has on the effectiveness and efficiency of practices in the clinic really cannot be overstated. However, with great power comes great responsibility.
