ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Ideal L2  self, ought to/fear L2  self and L2 learning experiences, the three major components of L2MSS was proposed by Dörnyei (2005) based on self-possible theory. The L2MSS formulated L2 motivation study for the past two decades in SLA field. Literature suggests that vision of ideal L2 self could generate motivational capacity if fitting for the prerequisites. The current study validates the conclusion of previous literature, the data of the experiment indicated that vision of ideal L2 self will bring forth positive motivation capacity. Through intervention activities of building ideal L2 self, goals of L2 learning become much clearer, achieving significant differences, while intended effort and linguistic confidence will have to be enhanced through longitude study to achieve significant differences. This paper explores the plausibility to provide vision intervention for building Ideal L2 self in English teaching classroom and discuss the motivational capacity that visualization could generate.
