ABSTRACT

Related to this, besides teachers, parents also play a crucial role to open avenues for the success of children’s learning. Both teachers and parents should be knowledgeable about who children are, how they learn successfully, and under what particular conditions their potentials can be then explored and developed. This idea indirectly indicates that besides at school, children need to gain positive support that parents should be able to provide by creating home learning environment. As Duncan et al. (2007) suggests, a child’s success in school is strongly influenced by the knowledge and skills that he or she acquires outside the school. Although knowledge and skills are the goal of the learning activities, what should be emphasized by teachers and parents is how children spend their time meaningfully during learning and gain eloquent experiences through the activities-not solely insisting on what they can do after being taught or given the activities.
