ABSTRACT

Serviceability and strength requirements are the two key parameters to be considered in the design of structures. Structure should withstand loads without failure during its life period and cracks and deflections should be also within the safe limits. Formation of cracks and its propagation in a structure mainly depends upon fracture parameters of the concrete used for the construction. Fracture parameters of concrete depend upon properties of ingredients and its composition. This study deals with experimental investigation on effect of fine aggregate on shear fracture parameters of high strength concrete. Study was conducted on two types of fine aggregates, River sand and manufactured sand. Shear fracture parameters of push-off specimens with river sand and manufactured sand were found out and it was observed that shear strength and shear fracture parameters of specimens with M sand and river sand are comparable.
