ABSTRACT

Bridges are the most sensitive part of any transportation system. Hence accelerated bridge construction is most essential to society. It is possible mainly by adopting precast superstructures. Adjacent precast, prestressed multi-beam bridges will avoid any in-situ constructions. However, there is a possibility of the longitudinal crack along the joint between girders if the transverse connection is poor. Thereby the integrity between girders is lost. This is due to the lack of shear friction effect. The improvement over this problem is investigated by developing Finite Element models using ABAQUS software. In the present study, two different beams were modeled in three steps to achieve better-integrated deck.
