ABSTRACT

This paper describes about the ergonomic analysis and suggestions to improve the working postures, so as to reduce the musculoskeletal disorder of workers. Digital human modelling method with Siemens Tecnomatix Jack was employed for the ergonomic analysis. The ergonomic working posture assessment tools like, Rapid Upper Limb Analysis and Ovako Working Posture Assessment System were employed in the analysis. A de-fibering machine was selected for the study and existing structure and dimension of the machine was analysed and modifications were suggested. As the operators are male and female with different size and shape, the analysis was conducted for male and female workers having 5th, 50th and 95th percentile of anthropometric dimension.
