ABSTRACT

Risk and safety management has become a science in its own right that today accompanies most modern enterprises. Medicine is no exception (1,2). Risk and safety management aims not at eradicating errors and mistakes— humans make mistakes and always will do—but at managing mistakes so that their most dreadful consequences can be foreseen and avoided (1). This is accomplished by proper understanding, anticipation, and implementation of targeted measures—defenses. Understanding risk and safety management ultimately aspires to developing a safety culture that accompanies all medical teams—in this case, assisted reproduction technology (ART). In this endeavor, on should largely count on education as a privileged vector for inoculating the desired safety culture deep into the daily activities of our working groups (3).
