ABSTRACT
Food traceability has become more and more of a major issue with globalization and the ease at which merchandise travels across our planet. Especially that food has a direct effect on human health and in case of contamination it can lead to an epidemic that can have vast devastating consequences globally.
In this section the actuality of food traceability is presented, as well as its importance, the different actors that are involved and different methods and tools that are used today. Highlight is given on how technology and new innovation can play an important role in increasing scientifically the process of tracing food.
Two innovative solutions are presented, the first one is Qualiboo (Itaque) for the production cycle and processing, the other is a mobile one IQoo (also by Itaque) for distribution. This section also cites examples of different traceability methods applied in different sectors of regions, their merits and limitations.
In conclusion, the perfect solution stay far but with the new regulations implemented worldwide, technology and global awareness food traceability is advancing at a fast pace.
