ABSTRACT
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a class of organic compounds that are made up of two or more fused aromatic rings. PAHs are created primarily by incomplete combustion of organic matter: the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas, or biomass such as garbage or sewage sludge, or forest fires.
