ABSTRACT

Real estate phenomena at the market level aggregate divergent attitudes, norms, values and etiquette into one whole characterizing national cultures and economic ideologies. Despite some commonalities, the political, economic and social discourses in the world are influenced by local factors. For instance, during the period of the Japanese economic boom between World War II and the end of the Cold War, Western companies sought joint ventures with Japanese firms. Google Trends is an online tool that helps extract internet users’ search “interest” in certain keywords or a family of keywords belonging to a category. Search interest in “books & literature” for the “real estate” keyword is dominated by developed nations such as Australia, New Zealand and the United States. India in particular and Pakistan or Bangladesh in some instances show noticeable appetite for literature and education in the real estate or housing sectors. Real estate research in Bangladesh appears to be a mixture of the market and policy approaches.
