ABSTRACT

This chapter explores models for different types of products across generations and shed light on dual-channel effects. Real-world data from eBay are used to develop the practical price models. The chapter summarizes the development of theoretical and practical pricing models for new and remanufactured products by considering the high-technology generation factor. It provides knowledge for customers and guides them to purchase items at an appropriate price. The theoretical models can stimulate development of other price models that account for the product generation factor. Driven by market competition, manufacturers can refresh models every year to make sure their products stay abreast of the latest technology level and fashion trend. For high-technology products, manufacturers launch new models while the early ones are available in the market. Price models are based on theories and practices. The practical models help scientists to validate other price models and provide information for industry managers to support price decisions.
