ABSTRACT

Using the first-order second-moment center theory for calculating anti-sliding and anti-overturning reliability, this study aimed at analyzing the influence of uncertainty parameters on the retaining wall, such as the internal friction of the filler (φ), the friction angle between the soil and the retaining wall structure (δ), the friction coefficient between the soil and the retaining wall base (f), the unit weight of the soil behind the wall (γ), and means and standard deviations of four random variables. The results indicate the eight major parameters that influence the anti-sliding and anti-overturning reliability of the retaining wall in the order of their importance: μ φ , μ f , μ γ , σ φ , μ δ , σ δ , σ f , σ γ   and   μ φ , σ δ , μ γ , μ δ , σ φ , σ γ , μ f , σ f https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781351241571/339807d3-4cc2-4743-8721-1c36d8cf2173/content/eq1.tif"/> , respectively. Finally, the study analyzes the influence of mixed parameter uncertainty on two types of reliability of the retaining wall.
