ABSTRACT

Studies in the area have presented alternatives in sustainable strategic design into local contexts. This paper presents the partial results of the CACO research project, from the diagnosis phase performed in five custom furniture companies in the city of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. It is believed that the insertion of a set of ecodesign strategies in MSEs can generate greater competitiveness for companies generating new business opportunities, creating more favourable conditions of competition among companies of the sector in the region, improving their income while simultaneously promoting commitment and the sharing of responsibility (social, environmental, cultural) by all stakeholders. In this case, it is noted that the progress of furniture MSEs depends fundamentally on minimising the waste generated and the wastage of materials.
