ABSTRACT

Human civilization and human scientific endeavor are today on the path toward immense scientific regeneration and scientific rejuvenation. Today, the world of engineering science is witnessing drastic challenges. Applied mathematical tools are the revolutionary branches of scientific research pursuit today. In a similar vein, genetic algorithms (GAs) are today challenging the scientific landscape. Chemical process engineering, petroleum engineering science, and environmental engineering are the avenues of scientific endeavor which has applications of GA and multi-objective optimization. In this chapter, the author repeatedly stresses upon the scientific success and the deep scientific potential of GA in the avenues of research pursuit in petroleum engineering, petroleum refining, and chemical process engineering. Scientific validation and technological vision are the challenges of present-day human civilization. Humankind’s immense scientific intellect, the futuristic vision of applied mathematics, and the intellectual prowess of scientific rigor will all lead a long and visionary 80way in the true realization of GA and multi-objective optimization (MOO) today. There is an immense importance of GA in designing of petroleum refining units. This area is deeply investigated in this chapter. The author also pointedly focuses on the vast importance of GA and optimization in chemical engineering and environmental engineering systems.
