ABSTRACT

Nanoparticles and their synthesis have increased recently because of their excessive use in different commercial products. This is one of the reasons of exposure of nanoparticles to beneficial microflora and plants over the past few decades. Soil microorganisms play a very important role in maintaining soil health, ecosystem functions, and crop productivity. Therefore, it is very important to evaluate overall positive or negative effect of nanoparticles on soil microorganisms. Environmentally friendly synthesis of nanoparticle by microbes and plants is an alternative method. However, the question still remains the same, i.e., what will be the effect of biological nanoparticles on living flora? Therefore, this chapter discusses the impact of nanoparticles on plants and microbes along with its potential applications.
