ABSTRACT
Q. A 35-year-old woman is referred to your clinic with problems of urinary frequency, urgency, urgency incontinence and nocturia. How will you approach this patient’s problems?
A. I will review her in my specialist clinic. I would like to elucidate the following points from her history:
soaked through? • How is this problem impacting on her quality of life? • Is there any history of neurological disease? • Is there any history of previous pelvic surgery/pelvic cancer/pelvic radiotherapy? • Is there any relevant smoking history? • Ask for information about fluid intake including caffeinated beverages. • What medications is she taking? • What has she tried in the past to improve the problem, i.e. conservative methods/lifestyle
changes/medications?
