ABSTRACT

Delivering data warehouse access through Web browsers has a variety of benefits. Inside a corporate intranet, Web-enabled data warehouses can increase ease of use, decrease some aspects of training time, and cut costs by reducing the number of proprietary clients. Upgrades can also be accelerated given a standard client, and data warehouses can more easily integrate with other applications across a common platform. When extended to corporate trading partners through an extranet (a secure extension of an intranet outside a firewall), the information contained within a data warehouse may become a revenue source.
