There is significance evidence of familiar aggregation of lung function (151), but the possible mechanism of inheritance has only recently been explored. Segregation analysis of FEV 1 has suggested that probably no major genes are involved and that many loci (polygenic model) control for lung function level (152). No published studies have attempted to assess linkage of lung function parameters with chromosomal markers.
