ABSTRACT
The electrophysiological changes occurring during the sleep-wake cycle (as de scribed in detail in Chapter 3) have intracellular correlates in terms of ionic currents across the cell membranes, changes in receptor density, energy require ments, intracellular signaling, and activation of the transcription of genes.
