ABSTRACT

Insulin pump therapy (continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion; CCII) is not for everyone. However, many persons with type 1 and type 2 diabetes could improve their glucose control with an insulin pump, while enjoying a much more flexible lifestyle. Many physicians are ignorant about insulin pumps and, as a result, they never think to offer them to their patients. Other caregivers are reluctant to prescribe insulin pumps because they do not want to create more work and "hassles" for themselves.
