ABSTRACT
There are no skin changes that are absolutely diagnostic of diabetes or invariably accompany it, but there are many skin changes that may be seen in diabetes. Insulin affects the utilization of glucose in the skin, and levels of insulin and glucose are reflected in the skin as they are in other tissues. However, how the insulin and glucose specifically affect the skin and whether and how they contribute to any of the skin changes are not completely understood.
