ABSTRACT

Although the golden age of the typewriter as a major instrument of document preparation has passed, document examiners can sometimes still be called upon to analyze older documents, forms, or anonymous documents created on a typewriter. Typewriters have been used in the production of everything from travel documents to wills to threatening letters. Even though improved printer technology exists today, the inexpensive nature and portability of typewriters can still make them the instrument of choice for perpetrators of fraud.
