ABSTRACT

State estimator provides a complete and reliable database, which is vital for the correct performance of all online application functions that are used in the operation and control of a power system, starting with security-related issues. Solution provided by the state estimation (SE) is also essential for many of the off-line applications that are related to system planning as well as electricity markets. The SE serves as a large-scale filter between the remote measurements and the high-level applications that constitute the energy management systems. Static SE function is used to monitor the operation of the system during normal operation, where the system is in quasi-steady state responding to slowly varying network load and generation. Hence, it is inherently assumed that there are no significant phase imbalances, and all transmission lines are fully transposed and therefore the three-phase system can be modeled by its single-phase equivalent circuit.
