ABSTRACT

Abstract The development of bisphospholanes and their application in enantioselective hydrogenation have influenced the academic as well as the industrial research during the last years. The excellent results that were obtained with bisphospholanes made them part of so called privileged ligands. We will shortly summarize the recent developments in this field and focus on a new type of bisphospholanes: catASium® M. The structure of catASium® M is shown in Figure 1. The tuneable backbone of these ligands opens a wide range of bite angles. We have developed a toolbox of different ligands that combines the high asymmetric induction of the phospholanes with tuneable bite angle modulated by the backbone to solve a given synthetic challenge.
