An Elementary Proof of Grothendieck’s Theorem

Abstract We prove a theorem analogous to Smith’s theorem but for matrices with Laurent polynomials as entries. Then we show that this result is equivalent to Grothendieck’s theorem about vector bundles on the projective line.
