ABSTRACT
Today, AM1.5 white light solar power conversion efficiencies reaching 4% have been reported with organic photovoltaic devices. The rapidly increasing power conversion efficiencies of these thin-film organic devices and the perspective of cheap roll-to-roll manufacturing drive their development in a dynamic way. In this chapter, an introductory overview is presented on the bulk heterojunction concept with a special emphasis on the open circuit potential of such devices.
