ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a topological proof of a Theorem by E. Effros and a consequence of it, due to C. L. Hagopian, which has been very useful in the theory of homogeneous continua. It presents the proof of Effros's result given by Fredric G. Ancel. Before showing Effros's Theorem, the chapter presents some background on topological groups and actions of topological groups on metric spaces by introducing topological groups and giving some of its elementary properties.
