ABSTRACT

If one assumes that the output current of the diode rectifier is continuous and the input source is balanced with wye connection, the input current does not have order of 3 or even harmonic components. In general, the diode rectifier is combined with a pulse width modulation converter and inverter for driving electric motors, such as direct current (DC) motors, induction motors, and Brushless DC motors. The thyristor rectifier can control the magnitude of DC-link voltage by changing fire which means the turn-on instant time of the thyristor. With the assumption of no input inductors and DC-link capacitor, the output voltage of the diode rectifier contains 360 Hz ripple component. Also, the input currents can be represented by the input currents of diodes according to the magnitude of line-to-line voltages. The input inductances consist of two components, such as line stray inductance and filter inductance.
