Conditions: Pt electrodes, MeCN/0.5% H2O, LiC1O4 , undivided cell, *recovered starting material.
With other groups as methyl or phenyl, the corresponding sulfoxides are obtained in good yields when the electrolyses are performed in solvents containing water [40, 84, 86-88]. Further oxidation of the sulfoxide produces the corresponding sulfone, as in Eq. ( 42) [88].
