ABSTRACT

Protected carbonyl groups such as a 4-phenyl-1,3-dioxolane may be deprotected by indirect oxidation in MeCN containing pyridine with N-hydroxyphthalimide as mediator [101].

IV. CARBON-SULFUR BOND A. Sulfonium Compounds Sulfonium salts are electrochemically reducible in both aqueous and aprotic media with cleavage of a carbon-sulfur bond; the electrochemistry of sulfonium salts has been reviewed [I 02, 103]. The mechanism of the reduction has been discussed in several papers.
