ABSTRACT

Scheme 4 HRP-catalyzed oxidation of 2,4,6-trimethyl phenol with in situ electrogeneration of hydrogen peroxide [157].

In similar applications of HRP with in situ electrogenerated hydrogen peroxide, aniline derivatives have been oxidized using graphite felt immobilized HRP in a flowthrough reactor [158]. Also, the polymerization of phenol has been studied under similar

conditions [159]. Chloroperoxidase has been used to catalyze the chlorination ofbarbituric acid to 5-chlorobarbituric acid under in situ electrogcncration of hydrogen peroxide [160]. The electrochemical and peroxidase-catalyzed oxidation of 9-!'l-o-ribofuranosyluric acid 5 '-monophosphate generates a diimine intermediate, which subsequently decomposes [161].
