ABSTRACT

Dietary long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) affect processes including growth, neurological development, lean and fat mass accretion, reproduction, innate and acquired immunity, and infectious pathologies of viruses, bacteria, and parasites; and the incidence and severity of virtually all chronic and degenerative diseases including cancer, atherosclerosis, stroke, arthritis, diabetes, osteoporosis, and neurodegenerative, inflammatory, and skin diseases.[1 – 6]
