ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to provide an architecture, methodology, and set of services to deliver timely, consistent, and quality data elements from a single logical source to all applications, end users, and clients. The objectives of Enterprise Data Management include providing an enterprisewide data image developed from optimum data sources that populate an enterprise data information warehouse and are delivered to authorized end users and knowledge workers. Subject data areas are enterprise resources and external tangible and intangible entities that are of interest or value to the business from a corporate perspective. Functions are groupings of activities that support the mission of the enterprise. In a logical sense, the enterprise warehouse component is a single master repository of enterprise data and metadata that produces the physical data structures required to store the subsequent informational data of the corporation. The enterprise warehouse is a logical view of data from a corporate perspective.
