ABSTRACT

This chapter examines some of the issues that go into determining the full end user experience. It also explores some of the strategies that businesses can employ to improve web site design and database performance. The chapter reviews some tools that are available in the market to evaluate the performance of web sites. It outlines some factors that go into determining the full, integrated end-user experience. The chapter reviews some of the key points that companies should consider while designing their “homes’ on the web”. It examines some options that can be used to improve database performance. Content is undoubtedly one of the most important factors influencing end user satisfaction with a web site. Maintenance can also include training requirements for the staff maintaining the web sites, cost of upgrading and maintaining the infrastructure including the hardware and software, and the cost of communications. The issue of ergonomics in web site design is becoming increasingly important.
