ABSTRACT

Over the past 50 years, we have dramatically reduced the human health threats posed by the environment. Environmental remediation and pollution reduction have been one of the nation’s public health success stories. In fact, we have been so successful in improving the quality of our environment that there are those who argue that the environment no longer represents a serious threat to human health. They argue that the job is done, that the low-level exposures experienced by most Americans pose no significant health threat.
