There are many factors to consider in planning and implementing a ground-water monitoring system; therefore, it is not surprising when systems do not function as they were intended to. Sometimes, parts of a system will not function as intended and will have to be replaced if the problem cannot be diagnosed and corrected. In the worst case, a system will appear to be functioning correctly but will actually be producing data that are incorrect, misleading, or uninterpretable.
