Robert Boyle 1627–1691, by D Thorburn Burns

Robert Boyle was born on 25 January 1627 in Lismore Castle, County Waterford, Ireland. He was the fourteenth child, and seventh and last son of Richard Boyle, the First Earl of Cork, and his wife, Lady Catherine Fenton.
