ABSTRACT
Size quantization of carriers in ultrathin microcrystals of PbI 2 is stated over the wide range of thicknesses. We discuss the exciton confinement, the electron-hole confinement and breakdown of the effective mass approximation. In addition, we show shrinkage of the exciton wavefunction of three and four monolayer crystals.
