ABSTRACT

Capra, Fritjof The exploration of the atom has forced physicists to revise their basic concepts about the nature of physical reality in a radical way. The result of the revision is a coherent dynamic theory, quantum mechanics, which transcends the principal concepts of Cartesian-Newtonian science. In biology, on the other hand, the exploration of the gene has not led to a comparable revision of basic concepts, nor has it resulted in a universal dynamic theory.
