ABSTRACT

The most common method of medical therapy is the administration of drugs. Noninvasive drug delivery is the administration of medicine without breaking the skin on a macroscopic level. Nebulizers provide the most effective means of delivering medicine through the lungs. They solve the delivery problems of other methods, but suffer from other disadvantages. The delivery of medication through the skin, without the need for a needle, is an attractive and practical method of drug delivery. The key to all transdermal delivery is the enhancement of transport through the skin. One aspect of controlled delivery is that of sustained constant dose. This can be achieved through the employment of transdermal patches, implants or the slow release of a drug into the system by other means. One of the biggest areas of interest in minimally invasive drug delivery is that of controlled and targeted delivery. Systematic dispersion of drugs can lead to side effects and reduce the therapeutic value of a treatment.
