ABSTRACT
In this note we present an idea of how to discretize the harmonic oscillator eigenvalue equation
−f ′′(x) + x2f(x) = λ f(x), x ∈ R, (1)
which means that we will replace the underlying continuous set R by the discrete subset hZ. The parameter h > 0 allows us to monitor the influence of the discrete structure, we will see that the limit process h ↘ 0 will result in the continuous theory.
