ABSTRACT

In spite of the large volume of literature on the involvement of coenzyme Q (CoQ) in human pathology, there is surprisingly little work reported on CoQ in alcoholic liver disease. In this review, we will consider the biochemical basis of alcoholic liver disease, the evidence for the involvement of freeradical processes and nutritional factors in alcoholic liver disease, and the evidence, both direct and indirect, for CoQ involvement in alcoholic liver disease.
