ABSTRACT

The operator’s comfort is increasingly recognized as a factor of importance in selling earth-moving machines (Krause et al. 2003). From 2001 to 2003 a Eurocabin project was carried out for three medium-sized earth-moving machine manufacturers: Paus GmbH (Germany), coordinator of the project; ETEC (the Netherlands), and Kaiser (Liechtenstein). A part of this project, which describes the design of the excavator of the future, concerns improvement of the operator’s view. The highlights of this study are presented in this chapter.
