ABSTRACT
Algal polysaccharides — The extract from the tissues of algae, divided into two groups: (1) reserve polysaccharides which are water soluble and (2) structural polysaccharides which are not. They are not hydrolyzed by the mammalian digestive enzymes and are therefore part of dietary fiber.
