ABSTRACT

This research,* carried out in 1989, considered a representative sample of the city of Trento in northern Italy: 1697 people, 809 males and 888 females, between 25 and 69 years of age. Systematic sampling was performed on the resident population in the city and each of its suburbs. Food consumption was monitored by simultaneous recording of the food consumed during meals, with total quantity evaluation for a 7-day period.
